A coalition of more than 70 environmental and other progressive groups are publishing Thursday the outlines of what they believe climate policy should look like in a post-Trump administration.
The Equitable and Just National Climate Platform brings together major environmental organizations like the Sierra Club and Natural Resources Defense Council with smaller environmental justice groups that have long fought for communities of color disproportionately affected by pollution.
The document, which has been in development for more than a year, represents an attempt to bridge the divide that has sometimes separated mainstream environmentalism from the environmental justice movement.
“[The plan] really is looking forward to 2021 where there is a plausible opportunity for broad national action,” John Podesta, founder of the Center for American Progress, told the Washington Post.
