Meet Our Coalition

The Platform for a Just Climate (formerly known as Equitable & Just National Climate Platform/EJNCP) is a national coalition that was formed in 2018 to address the historic exclusion of environmental justice groups from national climate change policy discourse. Environmental justice groups and national environmental organizations from across the country united around a shared commitment to ending the environmental racism that has left economically disadvantaged communities, Indigenous communities, Black communities, and communities of color exposed to disproportionate levels of toxic pollution and bearing the brunt of the climate crisis.

The Platform for a Just Climate is a project of the Center for Earth, Energy & Democracy (CEED). As an anchor coalition member, CEED serves as a project manager and organizational hub for the Platform.

Working Assumptions

Coalition Members of the Platform for a Just Climate have agreed to the following working assumptions, which guide how we work together:

We share common goals for the future of the planet and the survival of all life on Earth.
It is possible to find areas of alignment where we can work together toward common goals.
Alignment among our groups can provide energy to move our individual and collective goals forward.
It is possible to identify a few areas where environmental justice and national groups can work together and jointly support just climate and environmental policies.
This is a critical moment to bridge historic divisions in the environmental movement.
Developing equitable inclusive climate policy is in everyone’s best interest.
