With President Biden now in the White House, environmental justice activists are hopeful that the new administration will prioritize their long-standing concerns about pollution in communities of color.
For decades, Black, Hispanic and other minority communities have borne the brunt of industrial pollution, living near power plants, refineries and other facilities that spew toxic chemicals into the air and water.
Now, with Biden promising to put environmental justice at the center of his climate agenda, activists see an opportunity to finally address these long-standing inequities.
